F.C. Copenhagen's impressive European record over last 32 matches

F.C. Copenhagen lost 1-0 to Manchester United in the UEFA Europa League on Monday night - but the Lions still continued an impressive European record.

Goalkeeper Kalle Johnsson was inspired between the sticks in Cologne as he made 13 saves during the 120 minutes of action.

United's winner in extra time was from the penalty spot and, since Odsonne Édouard put Celtic 1-0 up at Telia Parken on February 20, we have conceded just three goals - all penalties - in 466 minutes of European action.

That covers the last-32, last-16 and quarter-finals of the Europa League:

  • 3-1 away against Celtic: Odsonne Édouard, 83rd min.
  • 0-1 away against Istanbul Basaksehir: Edin Višća, 88 min.
  • 3-0 at home against Istanbul Basaksehir
  • 0-1 against Manchester United: Bruno Fernandes, 95 min.

What's more, FCK lead the way by some distance for the record of the longest European streak without conceding multiple goals in a game

As you can see, the Lions have gone a staggering 32 UEFA matches without letting in more than once in any outing.

It is worth noting that FCK have lost just 25% of matches during this 32-game streak

Of course, it is better to win than to lose, but the streak indicates that even when the Lions lose in Europe, there is rarely a game where the players aren't within a goal of levelling things up.

Our streak of 32 matches now runs over two-and-a-half years of continuous European participation. It began after we suffered a 1-4 home defeat to Atletico Madrid on 15 February 2018.
