Match highlights: Esbjerg 1-2 FCK
Strikes from Martin Vingaard and Andreas Cornelius handed FC Copenhagen their third win of the season as the Lions moved three points clear at the top of the Superliga on Saturday. Watch the match highlights here, from FCKTV…
Copenhagen took the lead after 32 minutes thanks to a drilled effort from Vingaard. The winger rounded off a considered move after Claudemir had spread the ball wide to Christian Bolaños, who sent Christoffer Remmer free down the right win. Remmer fed the captain a delightful pass 14 yards out and all Vingaard had to do was blast home.
The score remained unchanged at half time, but just on the hour mark FCK doubled their lead. Bolaños curled in a magnificent cross from the right wing, over to the far post to meet Cornelius, who charged in to head across goal for his third strike of the season.
Esbjerg did pull a goal back when Jakob Ankersen got the better of Ragnar Sigurdsson in the FCK box and knocked the ball past Johan Wiland to halve the deficit.
But the goal wasn’t enough to entice a home comeback, as FCK held on. While César Santin missed a decent chance at one end, the Lions had Wiland to thank at the other for a brilliant double save with two minutes remaining.
The 2-1 win sees FCK climb to the top of the Superliga, and puts the team in good stead ahead of their Champions League qualifying trip to Bruges this week.
