Neestrup: A 'perfect performance' in 4-0 Lyngby win
F.C. Copenhagen head coach Jacob Neestrup praised his side's "perfect performance" in Sunday's 4-0 win over Lyngby BK just days after defeat to Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League.
The Lions are firmly in the swing of the spring fixtures now and the home clash with Lyngby was already the sixth in the last month.
FCK opened the scoring via a Casper Winther own goal, before Rasmus Falk and Mohamed Elyounoussi found the net before the break. Diogo Gonçalves fired home in the second half to round up the win.
And Neestrup was delighted with how the players set about their task on Sunday.
"It was a perfect performance," said the boss.
"That's how it is sometimes. We got on them straight away and kept coming at them with great patience, so that we gradually overcame their compactness. I'm fully satisfied with the players' approach to the game, and I think we could sense a goal long before the first went in.
"Lyngby brought fresh energy and faith in their play after their change of coach, and we had full respect for that, but we repelled them well and kept them away from chances until the very end of the second half.
"We could also have scored earlier in the first half, but it doesn't matter to me who scores or when. The decisive thing was that we went out again and delivered a strong performance, just as I think we did in Silkeborg and against Nordsjælland. Today we just closed out the match much earlier."
Next up for FCK is a trip to OB on Sunday 17 March, which marks the final round of the regular Superliga season. After this, the league splits in two, with FCK competing in the Championship Round across 10 matches to determine the Danish champions.
