Neestrup: We controlled the game from start to finish
F.C. Copenhagen head coach Jacob Neestrup was delighted with the solidarity his team showed in Tuesday's 1-0 Danish Cup win over FC MIdtjylland.
Roony Bardghji got the winner in the 77th minute at Parken but it was the team-wide unity that really pleased the boss.
"I think it was controlled from start to finish, and even though it was an even match, I don't think you can object to us winning today," said Neestrup.
"We give virtually nothing away and created the two or three chances that were needed. I had told the players that if we were solid defensively, then a goal would be enough to win.
"I think we have been solid for a long time and there has been collective progress throughout the autumn. We just have to avoid the stupid individual mistakes, like the one that cost a goal against Vejle.
"It was great to win against another talented team who had us on the ropes the last time we met. There was some desire for revenge today but, as I said, we avoided giving away stupid goals, as we did against them last time. We scored a class goal even with the whole build-up to Roony's finish.
"We also saw the Andreas Cornelius we know today, which gives us more variety in our game. It means we can play well beyond their press. He's just so strong between the lines and he's a big boost for their stoppers, so it was a good overall performance from him today."
