Zeca: Beating Piast more important that 100th game as captain

F.C. Copenhagen captain Carlos Zeca insists winning tonight's UEFA Europa League qualifier with Piast Glawice is far more important than celebrating his 100th game wearing the FCK armband.

Zeca will make his century of captain appearances when the Lions take on Polish side Piast in Parken Stadium this evening.

"We need a victory!" he said.

"First and foremost to progress in the hunt for the group stage of the Europa League, but also to gain the confidence a victory provides."

FCK beat IFK Gothenburg 2-1 last week to secure a spot in the Europa League third qualifying stage, and victory this evening would see Zeca and co. progress to the playoff round.

"It's always difficult when the results don't go the right way," he said.

"But we know we have to move on, and the next task is very important, so it's all we're focused on.

"We have been really good in some periods of the first few games (this season), but we have also been too unstable in other periods and we need to get that under control quickly.

"We have great motivation to move on and show ourselves and everyone else that we are a strong team. Victories are the only medicine to make us all get the right feeling again and we have to pick up this one on Thursday night."
