F.C. Copenhagen in Europa League second qualifying round draw
F.C. Copenhagen will face one of three teams in the second round of UEFA Europa League qualifying.
The single-leg tie, which is scheduled to take place on Thursday, 17 September, will see FCK take on one of:
IFK Gothenburg (Sweden)
Coleraine FC (Northern Ireland)
B36 Tórshavn (Faroe Islands)
The draw takes place at 1pm Danish time on Monday, 31 August.
How the draw works
UEFA will make the draw on Monday with the following rules in place.
There are 12 pools in the Europa League second qualifying round draw, each consisting of six teams.
Each pool has three seeded teams, numbered 1, 2 and 3, and three unseeded teams, numbered 4, 5 and 6.
A UEFA representative will draw out two numbers, which will create a tie in all 12 pools.
So, for example, if Team 2 and Team 6 are drawn together, then this decides the fixture in each of the 12 pools. The first ball drawn in each tie will determine which teams play at home.
F.C. Copenhagen's pool is as follows:
Seeded teams
1 Motherwell
2 FCK
3 The New Saints
- - -
Undeeded teams
4 IFK Gothenburg
5 Coleraine FC
6 B36 Tórshavn
Therefore, FCK will play either IFK Gothenburg, Coleraine FC or B36 Tórshavn, depending on which number pairs with number 2.
Europa League second qualifying round date
Whoever FCK draw, the match will take place on Thursday, 17 September.
Previous meetings
We have not met any of our three possible opponents in European tournaments before, but we have met IFK in the Royal League.
FCK have faced Swedish and Northern Irish teams before in European tournaments, but never a Faroese one.
