Kaufmann joins HSV on loan

F.C. Copenhagen have loaned out Mikkel Kaufmann to German side Hamburger SV for the coming season.
 
Kaufmann, 20, has departed the Lions' training camp in Austria to join his new team-mates.
 
"We have had a number of enquiries about Kaufmann, but both we and he consider this solution to be the most attractive from a sporting perspective," says FCK sports director Peter Christiansen.
 
"Kaufmann was not at the front of the queue here with us, and it is best for his development that he go to a club where he has a better chance of playing time. HSV really like him, and they are not just any club, so we will probably get him back in a sharper and stronger state.
 
"The pressure he will come under in Hamburg and in the 2. Bundesliga will definitely be rewarding for his development, so we wish Kauf good luck with his stay and look forward to following his performances in Hamburg."
 
Kaufmann: A great club and city
Kaufmann himself spoke to FCK.dk and said: "I had been looking forward to fighting for places in the attack at F.C. Copenhagen, but I am also looking forward to trying my hand at this exciting opportunity.
 
"Hamburg is both a great club and a great city, and there are huge expectations that they will succeed in getting back into the Bundesliga.
 
"That's why the pressure is at least as great as at FCK, and I'm sure this can develop me both as a player and as a person by spending a year down there.
 
"I will of course follow how FCK are doing closely, and I wish everyone in and around the club good luck. For both HSV and FCK, it is in its own way a hugely important season."
