Jubel efter målet af Olivia Bergmann

FCK Women exit Danish Cup at semi-final stage

F.C. Copenhagen Women were denied a place in the Danish Cup final on their inaugural season after losing 2-1 to Fortuna Hjørring after extra time on Thursday.

Olivia Bergmann put the Lionesses ahead from the penalty spot on 32 minutes at the Nord Energi Arena but Hjørring levelled after the break through Laura Frank.

FCK goalkeeper Anna Kaas denied Anastasia Pobegaylo from the penalty spot midway through the second half, before delivering a string of top saves to shut out the hosts again.

The team's resolve finally fell in the 103rd minute when Signe Søndergård headed in the winner from close range.

Defeat means FCK Women exit the cup at the semi-final stage but with the knowledge that they pushed the Elitedivisionen's leaders all the way over two legs and extra time.

Now attention turns to the battle for promotion to the 1st Division and another trip to North Jutland on Easter Monday, when FCK Women face away to AaB at 2pm.

The next home game in Vanløse Idrætspark is 10 May against AaB.
