'Great performance but annoying result' – Lerager
F.C. Copenhagen suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat to Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night, in front of a full house in Parken Stadium.
After the game FCK.dk caught up Viktor Claesson and Lukas Lerager in the mixed zone.
Viktor Claesson
"We feel we are on their level. We not only defended well ourselves, but we created more chances. Unfortunately Musiala showed his class and scored to make it 1-1. We showed last year that we can play against some of the biggest teams in the world, so we knew we had a good level. I thought the performance was top class against one of the world's best teams.
"We followed our match plan to the letter, we had the right positions defensively, and kept them from any big chances. When we had the ball, we played against their pressure. We also took our time on the ball and that is required when you face a world-class team.
"As a collective, we delivered what we've talked about, and it's a great performance we put together today. We could have six points after two games and it's frustrating. As a group, it was a fantastic performance and on the field it felt like we matched them.
"Lerager's goal was incredible, ecstasy! But I chose to focus because I knew there were still 35 minutes left, so I tried to keep my concentration.
"When we fell behind and I thought we were finished, but we fought on and created three big chances. The last one was especially big, so it's hard to take that we lost this game.
"But we still have four games left. We'll take with us the fact that we can play against the big guys. The way we play, we have to be disappointed with the result."
Lukas Lerager
"When you look at the whole performance, you can see that we played well. We stood firm in our positions, had a good game plan, delivered it, and everyone worked their backsides off. We believed in ourselves because we know we can be there if we hit our top level.
"We had some good performances last year, but this match is a bit bigger because they didn't create much. We are difficult to get through because we are very strong across our team.
"What matters right now is that we didn't get any points. We played a good game of football and created a few chances, and we kept them from the really big chances. So it's a great performance but an annoying result."
