Ísak: My first derby will be special
F.C. Copenhagen youngster Ísak Bergmann Jóhannesson says he is looking forward to his first Copenhagen derby against Brøndby on Sunday – and admits the rivalry is like no else he has experienced.
FCK beat Brøndby 4-2 earlier in the season but this is Jóhannesson's first experience of the clash of these capital neighbours.
"I think it will be something very special," says the Icelander. "Many people have told me that it is completely crazy, so it will be fun to experience, and I am really looking forward to it."
FCK head to Brøndby for Sunday's 1pm kick off trailing three points behind league leaders FC Midtjylland in the Danish Superliga.
And 18-year-old Jóhannesson, who previously played for Swedish side IFK Norrköping, says he's looking forward to experiencing another big rivalry.
"The biggest matches in Norrköping were always against Malmö FF, and when the Stockholm clubs came to visit," says Jóhannesson. "But there was not the same rivalry that we have with Brøndby."
Getting used to the style of play
Jóhannesson has featured in all nine FCK matches since his debut against Randers, starting three times, including the last two against Viborg and PAOK.
"I think I have gotten used to the style of play very well, especially now that I have played some matches in midfield. But I'm just happy every time I can help the team as best I can," says Jóhannesson.
"We have had a somewhat difficult period with many injuries, but all in all I think the team handles it very well. We have played some really good matches, but in some games it has also been tough for the team.
"I think we were a little unlucky in the matches against SønderjyskE and Viborg, which we could have won, but hopefully we will take a victory tomorrow in my first derby."
