Neestrup reacts to FCK 1-0 AaB
F.C. Copenhagen head coach Jacob Neestrup says his team “showed a glimpse of our top level” in Sunday’s 1-0 win over AaB that maintains the winning momentum in 2023.
Viktor Claesson scored the winner as the Lions secured three points in front of more than 31,000 fans in Parken.
The result comes a week after a 3-0 triumph at Silkeborg, and attention now turns to Wednesday’s cup tie with Vejle.
"Despite a few lapses in both halves, I'm very pleased with the way the players handled the game, both before and after we scored," says Neestrup.
"I'm just a bit sad that we haven't won by more, and didn't close the match out earlier, because you know how things are with coincidences in football. When it's 1-0 at the end, anything can happen, and it had would not have been bearable if we had dropped points at the end.
"But last Sunday in Silkeborg we won 3-0 in a match that probably wasn't a three-goal victory, and today we only won 1-0 in a match that should have been more. I'm not so worried about closing out games, but of course we should have scored three or four goals today.
"We had a really good flow in the game for most of the match, and as I said, we also created a lot. And with the goal, we showed how important it for our No 8s, Claesson and Lerager, to move into that position. We created such a good chance there that Claesson could hardly avoid scoring.
"So I think we showed a glimpse of our top level today, and that's important, especially at home."
