Neestrup: We just weren't clinical enough
F.C. Copenhagen head coach Jacob Neestrup rued his side's missed chances following a late defeat in Monday's derby at Parken Stadium.
FCK had led through Peter Ankersen but Brøndby turned the game in the second half with goals from Mathias Kvistgaarden and Sean Klaiber.
The winner came three minutes into stoppage time and leaves FCK five points off top spot with nine games remaining.
And Neestrup is all too aware of the scale of the task at hand.
"It's a terrible feeling to lose a derby, and especially the way it happened in the last 20 minutes after we were in total control and had come close to making 2-0 several times," said the head coach.
"It goes without saying that the disappointment is huge among everyone in our camp. But we are far from giving up hope of regaining the championship again. With nine games left it is getting harder and of course we are under even greater pressure now. The knife is at our throats heading into the next game against FC Nordsjælland and the week after too against FC Midtjylland.
"We were in very good control today and should have at least taken one point from it after failing to close the game out earlier. There were several opportunities to shut down their first goal before it came to that.
"We just weren't clinical enough, nor were we observant enough in the lead-up to their second goal well into added time. It's simply not good enough for us to concede goals like that."
Next up for FCK is a trip to FC Nordsjælland on Sunday 7 April at 4pm.
