Peter Christiansen

Peter Christiansen joins VfL Wolfsburg

F.C. Copenhagen's sporting director, Peter Christiansen, will move to German Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg after three years in the Danish capital.

He will continue his role at FCK until 1 July, after which he will still be available to the club over the rest of the transfer window.

Henrik Møgelmose: Move is part of the game
"It is never easy to watch talented staff move on in this way, but it is part of the game," says chairman of the board, Henrik Møgelmose.

"Here at F.C. Copenhagen we only employ the most talented people in their positions. We have a lot of highly qualified managers, coaches, players and employees, and they will naturally be attractive to clubs in Europe's the biggest leagues. That is a condition we must accept.

"PC has been one of the key figures in resurrecting and reinventing F.C. Copenhagen during a difficult period. This has happened through great dedication, a strong strategy and professional work ethic. It has resulted in many trophies, Champions League participation and a very strong sporting model that we can now build on.

"One of the big successes is also that we have, as a club, a structure that is far less dependent on individuals than before. We are standing strong, and we owe PC a big thank you for this. We wish him all the best at Wolfsburg and in the Bundesliga."

PC: Three amazing years
For Christiansen, the switch to VfL Wolfsburg is a natural step after three years at F.C. Copenhagen.

"I have had three fantastic years here, where, together with incredibly talented colleagues, I have set a new strategic direction for the club," he says.

"We have a well-developed strategy that, despite speculation to the contrary, has always been supported with the necessary resources from the board and ownership. Together we have moved the club to a new level.

"I know that the structures within the sporting model today are strong, healthy and well-worked. They are not reliant on just one person but rather on a strong staff unit.

"It's a difficult decision to move on, because the project at Copenhagen is so rewarding and interesting. I enjoy the collaboration that we have across the club. F.C. Copenhagen means an incredible amount to me, and you can also count on me to do everything to complete my tasks at the club and propel FCK forward well. It is crucial for me to make it the best possible job for the next person who takes over.

"I would like to thank everyone in and around the club for all the great experiences we have had together and the support that has been there throughout."

Møgelmose: Looking for Christiansen's replacement

Henrik Møgelmose adds: "Planning for this summer's transfer window has been going on for a long time, and the plan will be executed regardless of PC's move, but we are delighted that we have his expertise and network at our disposal this summer.

"In addition, we have a strong organization throughout the sporting department, which will take care of the tasks until the right candidate is in place for the position of sporting director. We are already underway and will now spend the necessary time and thoroughness on finding PC's replacement."

Everyone at F.C. Copenhagen thanks Peter Christiansen for his efforts for the club and we wish him all the best in the future.
