Ståle: Not our best performance but we won
F.C. Copenhagen manager Ståle Solbakken admitted the team was not at it's best against AaB on Wednesday night–but the result was what was important.
FCK beat Aalborg thanks to a Carlos Zeca strike early in the second half.
And Ståle was pleased the Lions returned to second place in the 3F Superliga with just one game of the season remaining.
"We did not play our best match today, but I think we deservedly won," he said.
"We also had the most and the biggest chances, while keeping AaB down to very few. Therefore, it was also closer to 2-0, than to 1-1.
"The idea of switching to 3-4-2-1 - or 5-4-1 in periods - was, among other things, so that we wouldn't dominate the ball as much as we have done in many games, where we've not got anything out of them.
"Today we wanted to play more directly and maybe create fewer chances, and we did well, and we are much more confident defensively and, as I said, did not give away many chances.
"The first quarter was a bit cagey, with several players in new positions just having to adjust. However, Jens Stage was really good in his position, both in the hole and advancing up the field. Even though not everyone hit their mark today, our organisation is so strong that the team can withstand it.
"Too many players also got too tired a little too soon, so in the end almost everyone wanted to be replaced. So now we have to see how we should shuffle the cards on Sunday, because it is of course very important to keep second place so the players get a break before they start next season.
"We really need that after this long and difficult season."
