Still among the best! F.C. Copenhagen reach sixth UCL group stage
F.C. Copenhagen secured safe passage to the club's sixth UEFA Champions League group stage on Wednesday thanks to a 2-1 aggregate win over Raków Częstochowa on Wednesday.
The 1-1 draw in Parken, plus last week's narrow victory out in Poland, means Scandinavia is represented in the Champions League this season.
It is the sixth time since 2006 that FCK have reached the group stage and second time in succession.
Denis Vavro's strike will go down as one of the best – and perhaps the weirdest – goals in FCK history. The defender had a pop shot from 35 yards that caught Raków's defence off guard and settled in the net before anyone quite realised what had happened.
The visitors got a goal back late in the game but couldn't force a second to take the tie to extra time, as FCK held on through six minutes of stoppage time to progress.
