Thorup: 'Outstanding' performance vs Lokomotiv
F.C. Copenhagen head coach Jess Thorup was delighted with his side's attacking style that earned the Lions a 4-2 victory over Lokomotiv Plovdiv in the UEFA Europa Conference League third qualifying clash at Parken on Thursday.
Progress to the playoff round was secured thanks to two goals from Kevin Diks and strikes for both Pep Biel and Mohamed Daramy.
"Overall, I'm really happy with what I saw on the pitch today," said Thorup, whose side progressed 5-3 on aggregate.
“Our first half was outstanding in relation to our link-up play and the way we combined, both in the middle of the field and on the flanks. We creates lots of chances and we scored some great goals, and it was a pleasure to be a part of it.
"After the break, we closed out the match with a quick goal to make it 4-1, and then it was a bit more relaxed as could make plenty of change and take into account the workload on the players.
"All in all, I think it's a great achievement by the players."
Thorup was also asked about the status of goalscorer Daramy, who the club has confirmed has caught the interest of Belgian side Club Brugge.
"Both me and Mo were prepared for what would happen when we had to announce this, but I think that Mo and his team-mates managed to keep full focus on the game on the field," Thorup said.
"For now we are first and foremost concentrating on an important match in Aarhus on Sunday."
The win means FCK will now face Turkish side Sivasspor in the Europa Conference League playoff round – the winner of which will progress to the group stage.
