Denis Vavro moves to Wolfsburg on loan
F.C. Copenhagen have sent Denis Vavro to VfL Wolfsburg on loan for the rest of the season, with the two clubs having reached an agreement that includes a purchase option on the Slovakia international.
Vavro played his 200th game for F.C. Copenhagen on Thursday evening, where he helped the Lions secure safe passage to the Conference League's group stage.
The 28-year-old will be in attendance at Sunday's Derby in Parken to mark his 200th appearance in an FCK shirt before heading to Germany.
"I have a great desire to test myself in a new league, and therefore I am looking forward to this opportunity in the German Bundesliga," says Vavro.
"I have been more than happy with my time at F.C. Copenhagen, so for me it is all about the desire to test myself somewhere else.
"I have so many good memories here from Copenhagen, and I wish the boys all the best. I'm sure we'll see FCK lift the title next summer and I'll be watching all the way. Come the summer we will have to see what the future holds."
Sune: Departure was part of the plan
Vavro first joined F.C. Copenhagen in 2017 and was then sold to Lazio in 2019, before returning to the Danish capital in 2022. Now a trip to the Bundesliga awaits.
Sports director Sune Smith-Nielsen says of the agreement: "We made a plan with Denis early on, and he has had a great desire to try his hand in a new league. We can only say that he has given everything for F.C. Copenhagen, and therefore we wish Denis the best of luck at Wolfsburg.
"We have of course had a great focus on securing another autumn of European matches, and since that part is now in place, we believe that the time is right to give Denis the opportunity to move on. We are looking forward to following him in Germany."
Everyone at F.C. Copenhagen wishes Vavro good luck at Wolfsburg.
