Neestrup reacts to 5-0 friendly win over WSG Tirol

F.C. Copenhagen beat Austrian side WSG Tirol 5-0 in a pre-season friendly on Monday – a display that left head coach Jacob Neestrup hungry for even more improvements.

Goals from Jordan Larsson and Viktor Claesson shortly before the break gave the Lions the lead, before Amin Chiakha, Orri Óskarsson and Thomas Jørgensen found the net in the second half.

Discussing the game, Neestrup said: "We just had to find our way into the game and past the first water break in the middle of the first half. But that's how it can be in these training games. I think we played with good efficiency and made the difference.

"You also have to remember that there are some who were playing out of position today. In relation to the centre-backs, we felt the need to have (William) Clem for the second half playing as a defender, and we wanted to give Christian (Sørensen) and Birger (Meling) as many minutes as possible, then one of them had to play on the right.

"But it's clear that there are several people who lack a little sharpness in their relationship with others, so as I said, we had to find our way in, but I'm perfectly satisfied and luckily we didn't get any injuries either.

"We have been training hard down here, but it was good that the players were a little tired when they went on the pitch and had to play with tired legs, because we have pushed them, and now we are trying to find the freshness for what needs to be done next week when we get home to Copenhagen.

"Tirol are a team who, in terms of level, are probably a lot like teams from the lower part of the Superliga, so this was a really good opponent where we faced some of the same challenges that we can face at home."

Next up for FCK is a training match against against Viktoria Plzen on Friday at 4pm.
