Brazilian Robert joins F.C. Copenhagen
F.C. Copenhagen have signed Brazilian winger Robert Vinicius Rodrigues Silva on loan from Cruzeiro Esporte following a successful medical.
F.C. Copenhagen's sporting director, Sune Smith-Nielsen, is pleased with the addition of Robert.
"We have had an eye on Robert for a long time, and he has international potential. We are bringing him in because of his raw skills and individual qualities, which we are very excited to work with," he says.
"This agreement further strengthens us in this position, and at the same time, all parties have the opportunity to assess each other throughout the season."
Robert: Will do everything to make this succeed
Robert Vinicius Rodrigues Silva – also known as Robert – has played his entire career at Cruzeiro in southeastern Brazil.
"I have been waiting for the perfect opportunity to test myself outside my home country, and now the opportunity has finally come," says the 19-year-old.
"This is huge for me, and I will do everything to make a breakthrough. My name should be remembered at F.C. Copenhagen."
Neestrup: Skilful player, who needs adaption
Head coach Jacob Neestrup is also looking forward to seeing Robert unfold on the Copenhagen grass - though with patience.
"Robert can play on both wings. He is an aggressive and skilful player who can challenge his direct opponents, and he has a good shot," he says.
"However, he is a young player coming to Europe for the first time in his life, so naturally, it will require adaptation to fully settle in and learn our way of playing and training."
"Our entire setup on and off the pitch will help him to integrate safely into F.C. Copenhagen, so we can bring him into play throughout the autumn."
Robert will wear shirt number 16, also after possible changes in the squad’s shirt numbers after this transfer window is closed, and he is already eligible to play in European matches.
