Christian Sørensen

F.C. Copenhagen sell Christian Sørensen

F.C. Copenhagen have agreed a transfer for Christian Sørensen to FC Midtjylland with immediate effect.

After two seasons, 61 matches, and three goals for F.C. Copenhagen, Sørensen is returning to Jutland, from where he joined FCK from Viborg. This time, the left-back is heading for Herning and he is proud of his time at F.C. Copenhagen.

Sørensen: Wants more playing time
“Playing for F.C. Copenhagen has, in many ways, been a big dream," he says.

"A few years ago I didn't think it was possible, so I am very proud of everything I have been a part of here. It has been a great honour to represent Scandinavia’s biggest club and to help win a championship and a cup.

“I want to send a big thank you to everyone I’ve met during my time at the training ground and in Parken. And of course, thanks to the fans who have supported the team all the time.

"I’ve wanted more playing time than I’ve had, and at the same time, I will be closer to my family, which we as a family are also happy about."

Neestrup: Christian deserves thanks for his contribution
Head coach Jacob Neestrup and Sørensen have known each other for many years, and Neestrup supports the left-back’s desire for more playing time.

“Christian has, for the most part, delivered exactly what we expected of him when he joined F.C. Copenhagen almost two years ago," says the boss.

"The combination of Christian’s opportunity for more playing time and, not least, a long contract elsewhere, is something we have decided to accommodate since we wouldn’t be able to offer him the same here. He deserves thanks for his contribution."

Far from playing time
Sporting director Sune Smith-Nielsen also thanks Sørensen for his great effort for the team.

“We have been clear with Christian that his playing time would be limited, and he has specifically wished for more minutes. Therefore, it makes sense to send him on. However, he deserves credit for always being ready when needed, and that’s why it’s also fair that we sell Christian so he can get the playing time and contract he desires,” says Smith-Nielsen.

Everyone at F.C. Copenhagen wishes Christian the best of luck in the future.
