Neestrup reacts to 3-2 loss at FCN

F.C. Copenhagen battled hard but couldn't come back from three goals down as the Lions lost 3-2 at FC Nordsjælland on Sunday – their first defeat of the new Superliga campaign.

Two goals in five minutes from Sindre Walle Egeli and Marcus Ingvartsen gave the hosts an early advantage, before Benjamin Nygren made it three on the half-hour mark.

FCK fought back in the second half with goals from Orri Óskarsson and Viktor Claesson but it wasn't enough.

Speaking after the game, Jacob Neestruoo said: "We didn't deliver what was needed to win today, and we had a golden opportunity to go out there and correct the poor performances from our past few matches.

"It's obviously bad to concede two goals at the start, but it can happen, even if we actually came out in the opening minutes as we wanted, until they scored. But we couldn't get too carried away by the two quick goals, because there was still a lot of time left in the game to put things right.

"I think in many ways we wasted too much time in the first half and then we were overrun after half an hour, when they scored their third and where we could have otherwise stayed in the game.

"We were too deflated and didn't work together as a team, and we only managed to pull ourselves together when it was too late. We came back after the break and scored twice and created some tension at the end, but I still don't think we had a proper grip on the game, even though our second half was better than the first."

Next up for FCK is a trip to Scotland and a UEFA Conference League playoff second leg against Kilmarnock on Thursday.
