Neestrup reacts to 5-1 win over Magpies
"We showed the difference that should be between the two teams over two matches," said Jacob Neestrup after the 8-1 aggregate victory over FCB Magpies, which sends the Lions through to Q3 against Banik Ostrava.
"Of course, it was unfortunate to fall behind after a quarter of an hour, but such a mistake can happen to anyone. I would have liked to see us score a few more goals before the break, but the premise of such a match is just very different from what we are used to in the Superliga," said Neestrup.
He also referred to FCK's performance in Parken in the return match against Breidablik (6-3 after 2-0 in the first leg) and said that it could not be compared to what we showed in the following qualification rounds against Sparta Prague and Rakow Czestochowa.
"We face a different type of opponent than we are used to with a team that defend with many players and is hard to break down, and we also rotated a lot in the starting XI, thus losing some rhythm in our play.
"But just like in Gibraltar, the game changed a lot as soon as we scored, and over the 90 minutes, it went as it should. We won convincingly and are through to the next round, and that's what matters," said Jacob Neestrup.
