Thomas Jørgensen sold to Viborg FF
F.C. Copenhagen have agreed the sale of Thomas Jørgensen to Viborg FF.
The 18-year-old midfielder moves to Viborg with immediate effect.
"Thomas has placed a high value on playing time, and that is not something we can guarantee at F.C. Copenhagen,” says Sports Director Sune Smith-Nielsen.
“Therefore, there has been a great desire from him to try his hand elsewhere, and we respect his wish. Looking at everything, we believe that this is the right decision.
"We should be proud to have developed another talented young player, in whom many other clubs have shown interest because he has performed well. We wish Thomas the best of luck in the future and look forward to following the next steps in his career. And maybe we'll see Thomas back in F.C. Copenhagen in the future.”
Jørgensen: I feel well prepared
Jørgensen has not made his first-team debut for F.C. Copenhagen, but is grateful for the time he has had at the club.
"I’m really keen to get out and play more than what was in line for me at F.C. Copenhagen. Of course, I had dreamed of playing in the first team, and maybe that will happen one day in the future. But when everything is settled, I have put a lot of emphasis on playing time elsewhere.
"I want to say a huge thank you to all those who have helped me, and I feel that I am well prepared through the good training we receive at FCK Talent. Now I'm looking forward to the next step at Viborg and look forward giving everything I have for them.”
Neestrup: Can't guarantee regular playing time
FCK head coach Jacob Neestrup reserved praise for Jørgensen as the player heads off to Viborg.
"Thomas showed himself well in the spring at Hvidovre IF during a good loan spell, and we have been ready to let him join the strong competition we have in midfield on equal terms with the others,” he said.
"However, he has already expressed a desire for regular playing time at the start of the season, which we have not been able to guarantee at F.C. Copenhagen in the short term. We have believed in Thomas all the way, and are sure that he will become a skilled player.
"He must continue his development and add the things that he naturally, as an 18-year-old, lacks in his game. We are looking forward to following Thomas in Viborg, where I know he will go somewhere good.”
Everyone at F.C. Copenhagen wishes Thomas good luck in the future.
