F.C. Copenhagen Women win historic first league match 3-0
F.C. Copenhagen Women made history on Saturday with a 3-0 victory over B73 Slagelse in their inaugural league match.
Cheered on by 5,165 supporters at Vanløse Idrætspark, FCK took the lead through Kia Brøndum Syndergaard's header from a corner.
Svava Mørk made it 2-0 around the half-hour mark after some neat FCK link-up play, before 17-year-old Julie Børkop closed the game out in the second half.
"It's a fantastic day for women's football," said FCK director Jacob Lauesen.
"We're blown away by the great support, which confirms to us that there are some great prospects for F.C. Copenhagen in women's football.
"We can see that the timing is absolutely right, and there is a huge interest in women's football. This start means so much to us, and it is a big day for F.C. Copenhagen. A historic day!"
The win means FCK Women start the 2nd Division with three points as attention now turns to an away match against Allerød next Saturday. Our next home game is versus Fredensborg on Saturday 31 August at 12 noon.
