Neestrup: Derby win 'means everything'
F.C. Copenhagen head coach Jacob Neestrup says the players deserved their 3-1 derby victory over Brøndby on Sunday, which lifted the Lions back to the top of the Danish Superliga.
Goals from Viktor Claesson, Jordan Larsson and Christian Sørensen earned the three points in Brøndby Stadium. And Neestrup was delighted with the performance.
"The win means everything. And we're not talking about the table or anything else today," says Neestrup.
"We've won a derby away from home after feeling very, very flat two weeks ago. It was important.
"There is extreme pressure on the players who played the game today under very difficult conditions due to the situation we are in, with suspensions and injuries across the defence.
"I take my hat off to them and I think we won very deservedly, I must say.
"Brøndby had one chance in open play, and it's the one Kamil Grabara saved. It's the save he has to make during the match. Other than that, they had difficulty creating anything against us, and we took care of the chances we got.
"They had the ball a lot for the first hour, but I think I'm most impressed by our reaction after their equaliser. That's where we stood up and got on with the game, and I think we were clearly the better team towards the end."
Next up for F.C. Copenhagen is Thursday's Danish Cup final against AaB in Parken.
